June is LGBTQ+ Pride month, and this weekend – June 9 through June 11 – the center of events is in our area. For each event below, use the link to find out more about that event.
The Christopher Street West L.A. Pride Festival takes place in West Hollywood all weekend. San Vicente Blvd. will be closed between Melrose Ave. and Santa Monica Blvd., from Thursday evening through early Monday with some impact on adjacent streets.
On Friday evening, the Dyke March and related activities take place starting at the Sal Guarriello Veterans’ Memorial on Santa Monica Blvd. east of La Cienega Blvd. starting at 6 p.m. The Dyke March starts at 8 p.m., proceeding west on Santa Monica Blvd. to San Vicente Blvd. and back to the Veterans’ Memorial, where activities continue.
AIDS/Lifecycle will be finishing Saturday morning, June 10th, at Fairfax High School. This seven-day bike ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles raises money and awareness for the fight against HIV/AIDS. The ride will be coming east on Santa Monica Blvd. through West Hollywood, turning south on Ogden Dr. to Melrose Ave. From 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. eastbound Santa Monica Blvd. will be reduced to a single lane of traffic between Doheny Dr. and Ogden Dr. Ogden Dr. and Melrose Ave. will be affected intermittently, especially in the morning. The Finish Line Festival will be at Fairfax High School from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
And then on Sunday, June 11th, instead of a “Pride Parade,” there will be the #RESIST March starting at Hollywood and Highland at 8 a.m., proceeding west on Hollywood Blvd. to La Brea Ave.; south on La Brea to Sunset Blvd.; east on Sunset to Fairfax Ave.; south on Fairfax to Santa Monica Blvd.; then west along Santa Monica Blvd. through West Hollywood. Streets in Hollywood and in West Hollywood east of La Cienega Blvd, are expected to start opening by 1 p.m. Santa Monica Blvd. from La Cienega Blvd. to Doheny Dr. will be closed from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. during the closures for the #RESIST March route, streets will be restricted a block or two from those streets.
