PARK(ing) Day is an annual worldwide event where artists, designers and citizens transform metered parking spots into temporary public parks. Each year it’s on the third Friday in September.
This year — on Friday, September 18th from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. — the Mid City West Community Council is setting up four of these pop-up parks, and two of them are in or very close to Melrose Village. (The other two are not that far from here, either)
The location in Melrose Village is at 7753 Melrose Ave., on the north side of Melrose, west of Genessee Ave. This PARK(ing) Day location is being co-sponsored by the Melrose Business Improvement District, and will have arts & crafts for kids and adults as well as a wi-fi hotspot.
The other nearby location will be on the west side of Fairfax Ave., just south of Rosewood Ave.
See below for more information on these and other locations.
