Meeting with new LAPD Senior Lead Officer cancelled (without notice)

Last week we posted a note about a scheduled meeting with a new LAPD Senior Lead Officer for our area of the LAPD Wilshire Division.

We arrived at Canter’s Deli this morning, where the staff there let us know that the event was cancelled.

We understand that things happen, and that planned events sometimes have to be rescheduled or cancelled. Our concern is that there was no communication letting us know about the cancellation, not via the original communication paths or otherwise.

Communication is a key in community policing. The lack of communication in this case is very disappointing.

We’ll let you know if/when we hear further on this matter.

  1. Mark Stevens says:

I hope there is another meeting. Very interested in hearing about local issues.

  2. David Reid says:

Not a good way to start out a new relationship.
This was double marked on my calendar but an unavoidable situation prevents us from going. I was kicking myself all morning and now realize that was unnecessary. I hope the new Chief of the division realizes how big a chair he filled with the retirement of Captain Eric Davis. Likewise to the new SLO. We were spoiled with Art Gallegos. Communication is everything.

  3. Nancy Vimla says:

I went and was disapointed that it had been canceled with out sending out emails to Mid City West, Next Door, etc. Will there be another meeting? I am very interested. Thank you.

  4. Leslie Romenesko says:

Thank you for posting about this. It was very disappointing to show up at Cantor’s to meet our long awaited new Senior Lead Officer only to find out the meeting had been cancelled. I certainly hope a replacement will be selected soon and that this meeting will be rescheduled.
