We’re just received a notice that daytime utility relocation work will be occurring from today, July 28th through Friday, August 1st, 2014 on Fairfax Ave. north of Wilshire Blvd. The hours of this work is 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Metro contractors are working to make room for the future Wilshire/Fairfax Station of the Metro Purple Line Extension.
This work will be occurring in the street but at least one lane of traffic will be maintained
in each direction during construction. Traffic Control Officers will be stationed at the work location to assist with traffic.
Overnight work will be continuing as well, but it looks like there will be daytime work, sometimes reducing travel to one lane, on occasion along the route, especially near where new stations will eventually be installed along Wilshire Blvd., at La Brea Ave., Fairfax Ave., and La Cienega Blvd.
For more information, see the metro website for this project at metro.net/purplelineext or http://www.metro.net/projects/westside/. (Note: We’ve had some trouble with this link today, but it does work eventually.)
