Gardening Volunteers Needed at Melrose Elementary March 15th

An extreme makeover is coming to Melrose Elementary School, right in the heart of Melrose Village. They are doing a large beautification effort, but they need your help. If you love kids, enjoy gardening, and want to help your community, then please volunteer. The event is Saturday, March 15th from 9 am to 4 pm.

They’ve received a generous grant from EnrichLA to cover the costs of:
→  Eight new beds along the Detroit fence
→  An irrigation system
→  A wooden fence running on the West side and North side of the in-ground bed
→  A small wooden fence at the open end of the garden area
→  A gate in the short chain link fence from the bungalow to the Detroit fence
→  Planting 2-3 citrus trees in the in-ground bed
→  Picnic tables near the in-ground bed
→  A washing/prep station near the Detroit beds

To accomplish all of this they need at least 25 volunteers in the morning — 9:00 to 12:30 (first shift) and 25 volunteers in the afternoon — 12:30 to 4:00 (second shift).
