We previously reported on the closure of Fairfax Ave. a couple of miles south of Melrose (along with Venice and Olympic Blvds.) this Sunday morning, September 29th. We just got word of a planned closure of Fairfax Ave. between Melrose Ave. and Beverly Blvd. starting early Sunday morning (4 a.m.?) until late in the afternoon after the clearing of the event scheduled for 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The event is being promoted as “Welcome to the Block Party.” Plans include live music performances, food trucks, celebrity appearances, pop-up shops, carnival games, and more. There is an admission fee starting at $15.
The weekly Melrose Trading Post will also be in progress from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Fairfax High School at the corner of Melrose and Fairfax.
In any case, the block party event will definitely impact traffic in the area. Some information about the event is available online.
