Pot Store Raided for Violent Gang Ties

A marijuana store on La Brea Avenue just north of Melrose was raided yesterday by police for having ties to violent criminal gangs, according to an article in Wehoville.com. The store is called La Brea Compassionate Caregivers and is located at 735 N. La Brea Avenue. Also raided were two pot stores in West Hollywood and one in Marina Del Rey.

The raids were carried out by a joint police task force including members from the LAPD and the LA County Sheriff’s Department. A police statement said:

“This criminal enterprise hired known gang members as enforcers. This organization was involved in the operation of multiple retail marijuana dispensaries generating massive profits, repeatedly showing their willingness to use violence and intimidation to expand their operations and dissuade competition.”

The article states:

Among the crimes alleged to have been committed were attempted murder, home invasion robbery, conspiracy, arson, extortion, residential burglary, assault with a deadly weapon and use of a destructive device. Over the course of the investigation, detectives said they seized millions in cash and valuables from the criminal group.

That doesn’t sound very “compassionate,” does it? But then, most of these pot stores have always been sleazy operations focused on making as much money as possible, while hiding behind people with cancer and AIDS who they pretend to be concerned about….

How can we stop these pot shops from continuing to operate in our neighborhood?

    • MR says:

Move them to Rite Aid. If it is legal, helps people, then it should be handled by a legitimate drug store.

      • The federal government considers marijuana an illegal drug with no proven medical benefit. So, it can’t be sold in pharmacies, which are regulated by the federal government. Maybe that will change at some point in the future, but probably not for a long time….
