For Most Unusual Restaurant Name, the Winner is…

Palihotel Sign-1

We reported in January that a new boutique hotel, the Palihotel, had opened on Melrose Avenue just west of Fairfax.

Now a restaurant has opened within the hotel, and it gets honors for most unusual restaurant name.  It’s called The Hart and the Hunter.

We are hearing good things about the spot, which specializes in Southern food.  Zagat just named it one of LA’s Hottest New Restaurants of 2012, writing:

The vibe is as cool and relaxed as the mismatched chipped china on the tables. For such an odd space and name, the young and pretty fill the room nightly for the Southern-flecked menu, which includes things like buttery biscuits and pimento cheese or jam, chicken cracklins, country ham, shrimp boil with sausage, and one amazing lemon icebox pie. But this isn’t just comfort food – it has a refinement and edge that makes it stand out from the pack, so much so that people will fight for a spot in the noisy dining room.

I think ROFL (Republic of Laughter) Cafe at 7661 Melrose has an even more unusual name.
