We have good news for fans of Zankou who are tired of driving over to West L.A. or East Hollywood for their chicken fix: A new Zankou is set to open this week at Sunset and Fairfax.
One of our fearless correspondents walked by the location over the weekend and happened to run into one of the owners, Steve. He said that if they can get the final permit sign-offs from the City of Los Angeles, the location will open this week.
Zankou chicken has received rave reviews from nearly every foodie in Southern California. Its signature roast chicken with garlic sauce has been immortalized in a Beck song, as well as in an episode of “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” where it was referred to as “Palestinian Chicken.” (In reality, an Armenian family operates the Zankou restaurants, with two different sides of the family owning different locations.)
The new location is at 7851 Sunset Boulevard, at the corner of Orange Grove (one block east of Fairfax Avenue), on the site of a former KFC.
Count us as regulars….
They are the BEST. I can’t wait-just wish it was on Melrose but, cant have everything
