Our area is represented to the City of Los Angeles by our neighborhood council, the Mid City West Community Council. The council serves as a liaison between community members and the city government. It can help to get things done.
Much of Melrose Village is within “Zone 2″ of Mid City West, which has a representative on the board of the council who specifically advocates for the needs of our neighborhood. That seat is currently vacant, and Mid City West is actively seeking community members to run for it.
To look at the Zone 2 boundaries, check this map.
Serving as a board member requires that you attend the board meeting each month, and join at least one committee. A zone rep must live within the zone he or she represents. If you are interested in the Zone 2 seat, email your resume to the Chair of the Mid City West board, Sheryl Turner, at firstname.lastname@example.org .
The election for the Zone 2 seat will be held at an upcoming Mid City West board meeting, with the vote taken by current board members. Each candidate will have a few minutes to speak about why they are the best person to represent the community.
So, represent yourself.
