This Sunday, October 16th, AIDS Walk Los Angeles is coming right through Melrose Village. If you’re not walking, come out and cheer on the walkers.
This means there will be street closures, so if you are driving in the area, here is information that can help you. As we said a couple of weeks ago, the Walk starts and ends in West Hollywood near San Vicente Blvd. and Santa Monica Blvd., near West Hollywood Park. In West Hollywood, San Vicente Blvd. between Beverly Blvd. and Santa Monica Blvd. will be closed Saturday and Sunday. On Sunday, Santa Monica Blvd. between San Vicente Blvd. and La Cienega Blvd. – in West Hollywood – will be closed from early in the morning through about noon.
Here are the street closures in and near Melrose Village with approximate times:
- La Cienega Blvd., from Santa Monica Blvd. to Melrose Ave. — 6 am to 12 noon
- Melrose Ave., from La Cienega Blvd. to La Brea Ave. — 6 am to 1 pm
- La Brea Ave., from Melrose Ave. to Beverly Blvd. — 9 am to 2 pm
- Beverly Blvd. from La Brea Ave. to San Vicente Blvd. — 9 am to 2 pm
There are locations where you can cross the AIDS Walk route, if necessary: Along Melrose Ave, at Sweetzer Ave., Crescent Heights Blvd., Fairfax Ave. and Poinsettia Place. The crossings on Beverly Blvd. are at the same streets. On La Brea Ave., crossings are at Clinton St. and Oakwood Ave.
The map below shows the route, the approximate closure times for our area and the crossings.
