Our neighborhood council, Mid City West Community Council, will hold its board meeting tomorrow (Tuesday, August 9, 2011), starting at 7:00 pm. The meeting takes place in the National Council of Jewish Women building, 543 N. Fairfax Avenue (one block south of Melrose Avenue, enter parking lot from the alley west of Fairfax).
This is one of your best opportunities for shaping the future of our neighborhood. Any community member can give a 3-minute long “Public Comment” at the beginning of the meeting, simply by filling out a Public Comment card and handing the card in to the board members at the head of the table. Make your voice heard.
You can also run for an open seat on the board, for the position of At Large Representative. Anyone who is a stakeholder in the Mid City West community (meaning that they live, work, or do business here) is eligible to run for the seat.
Other items on the agenda include announcements from elected officials, a discussion about how to improve community outreach, a request for a beer and wine license for Simple Things Sandwich and Pie Shop on 3rd Street, a motion regarding a budget item for the Bike LACMA event, and an announcement about the Open House at LAPD Wilshire Station on Sunday, August 14.
