Tonight is the night – for our neighborhood’s biggest party of the year!
Join us for our community’s National Night Out event in Poinsettia Recreation Center from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The main stage is near the Willoughby Avenue entrance (at Fuller).
Free food and beverages will be available, thanks to the generosity of Blu Jam Café, Canter’s Deli, Trader Joe’s, Costco, and other local restaurants and stores.
There will be a free raffle with great prizes donated by the Farmers Market, the Beverly Center, the Parlor Hollywood, and retailers belonging to the Melrose Avenue Merchant Alliance. Raffle prizes include valuable gift certificates and excellent Dodgers tickets.
We will hear from many of our elected officials, including Los Angeles County Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky, Los Angeles City Attorney Carmen Trutanich, City Council members Paul Koretz and Tom LaBonge, LAPD Captains Eric Davis and Rosa Moreno, and senior L.A. Fire Department officials.
Special activities for children will include face painting and photos. It’s a fun family event.
There will be a giveaway of free street trees as part of the city’s “Million Trees Initiative” (one tree per L.A. resident). And you will be able to visit community booths for 18 local organizations and talk to their representatives to find out what’s going on in our neighborhood, and how you can get involved.
Dozens of your neighbors have donated thousands of hours of volunteer time to stage this big National Night Out event, which has become known as one of the best in all of Los Angeles.
So join us tonight for a great evening in the park for the whole community!
