Highland Keeps Hepifying

Last November we posted about the new restaurants and stores that have turned a formerly drab section of Highland Avenue into something approaching a cool street (“Highland Gets Hipper”).

Well, Highland keep hepifying.

The Los Angeles Times and local food and nightlife blogs are reporting that a new bar-restaurant called Next Door Lounge has just opened on Highland, one block north of Santa Monica Boulevard (next to the Corner restaurant).  The decor is described as 1920s Hollywood (appropriate for a neighborhood in which most of the homes were built in the 1920s).

The head bartender is Joseph Brooke, formerly of downtown speakeasy The Edison.  Creative cocktails and live music are promised.

Keep moving up, Highland.  And then let’s get working on Vine Street…
