New Stores Open on Melrose

Maybe it’s a sign that the economy is really picking up.  A recent stroll along Melrose Avenue, from Edinburgh to Martel, found that lots of new stores have opened in the past few months.

    I hope the $80K Melrose gets will be used towards creating a sanitation program that makes the corridor more clean and attractive. Overflowing trash bins, gutters, and sidewalks will turn off most patrons in my opinion.

    I walked from Fairfax to LaBrea early this week and saw the same thing. One thing I am trying to understand is why The Coffee Bean @Gardner has much fewer customers than Starbucks @Stanley, only 4 blocks away. My best guest is that Gardner has restricted residential street parking overnight between 8p and 8a (2hours otherwise), while Stanley just has the 2hr limit between 8am and 6p. Guess where you will get the most personalized service?
