73-year-long romance started in Poinsettia Park

Not many marriages last for 73 years.  And not many long-term married partners become Internet sensations, giving relationship advice to generations of fans.

But that’s what happened to “PopPop” and “Cutie” Cooper, who met in the 1930s on the tennis courts in Poinsettia Park.  (The photo at the top of this blog is of Poinsettia Park; it was taken during the 2010 National Night Out community event.)

“PopPop” Cooper died recently at the age of 98.  You can read a touching obituary about him, and his late-in-life online fame, on the Los Angeles Times web site.
