Earlier this month, in our blog about changes at the West Hollywood Gateway complex, we noted that our local office of the Automobile Club of Southern California (aka AAA), had moved. Actually, just a few years ago, the Auto Club office was a couple of miles south of here on Wilshire Blvd., near Burnside. Now they’ve moved a couple of miles west along Santa Monica Blvd., from just west of La Brea Ave. to the corner of Hancock Avenue.
Their new address is 8761 Santa Monica Blvd. and we went over there to check it out.
Going westbound on Santa Monica Blvd., Hancock Ave. is the next street on the right past the Westbourne Dr. traffic signal. The building they are in has retail and a restaurant on the ground floor as well as parking below. The parking entrance is just around the corner on Hancock Ave., and the first hour of parking is free. There’s also metered parking on the street. (Avoid parking on the side streets, where a parking permit is required. The West Hollywood Parking Enforcement folks are watching out.)
So, while it’s not quite walking distance anymore, as it was for some of us, the Auto Club office is still fairly close to Melrose Village.
